Note #167 // The Gratitude List

As I mentioned in my last post, life hasn't been entirely Rosie round these parts, but every morning I've been waking up and taking five minutes (any excuse to stay in bed!) to write in the gratitude journal that my wonderful friend Veronique bought for me.

I'm old enough to know that there are good days and bad days. And that sometimes all the lines are blurred and it feels like you're in a pit so deep, you'll never get out of it. But I've also seen enough shit to know that we should be grateful for everything we have, as the very situation we are moaning about is the place that others would kill to be in. And I find that if you can find the smallest things to be grateful for, it changes your mindset. You actively look for the positive and find it more easily. So here are the things that I've been grateful for lately:

  1. I'm grateful to myself for hitting my savings targets instead of staying in normal patterns of behaviour and frittering bits of it away.
  2. For Birchbox arriving. Even the sunny colours of the box made me smile. And who doesn't like to receive something in the mail?
  3. The promise of a sunny Saturday. My sunglasses are at the ready.
  4. A bloody awesome night's sleep on Thursday night. I got in bed at 8.57pm. Absolutely unheard of for me!
  5. I'm very happy that it is no longer pitch black when I leave the house in the morning and leave the office at the end of the day. The promise of Spring is a very powerful thing.
  6. My office location. I'm right by Hyde park, so even a half an hour lunchtime jaunt out of the office can be so refreshing and restorative. 
  7. Resisting paying full price for these Zara boots, only to find that they went down from £69.99 to £39.99 the very next day! Mine!
  8. Friends. As always.
