So the world of popcorn has gone gourmet, with every incarnation known to man being rubbed together (sweet chilli and lime has to be my favourite to date). But my boy just doesn't get it. Unless it's sweet or covered in toffee he isn't interested. However, one day when feeling experimental in the kitchen I decided to see if I could pep up our salted popcorn ahead of movie time. The end result? Salted caramel popcorn that even he gave the thumbs up to. And as you'll see from the following steps it is really hard to make (not).

1. Put one sachet of salt flavoured microwaveable popcorn into....well, the microwave funnily enough.
2. Put some sugar in a pan and melt over a low heat, stirring continuously. (I didn't take measurements as it was a random experiment, but you don't need much as it's only to provide a drizzle).
3. Pour half the popped corn into a large bowl, then drizzle the caramel all over. Fill the bowl with the other half of the popcorn and pour the rest of the caramel over it getting it in all of the nooks and crannies of the popcorn.
4. Chow down while watching the movie of your choice!

As the caramel hardens, just sit back and enjoy snapping off bits of the crunchy and caramelised, salty globules of yumminess.
